Ancient DOS Games --- Episode 174

Cannon Fodder

WARNING! The gameplay footage in this episode contains violent imagery. If you are under the age of 18, or if you find such content offensive, please do not watch this episode.

Additional Information and Corrections:

  • If you want to get the DOS version from GOG (or Cannon Fodder 2) follow this link: http://www.gog.com/game/cannon_fodder

  • I didn't adjust the video aspect ratio as normal since the aspect ratio I've shown it at is what it's SUPPOSED to look like, given the greater vertical resolution of the original Amiga game and the mostly unmodified graphics of this version.

  • Thanks to a fan of the show, we've determined that the MT-32 support DOES produce sound effects. Supposedly they sound really bad but then the check was done using emulation, so the real hardware might produce different results. :B

  • Although I didn't encounter any "suppa boosta" powerups, the manual says they're hidden in secrets, so it's possible I might've missed on earlier in the game in one of the missions I did make it too.

  • I haven't played any of the sequels, so I'm unsure if they're better or worse than the original game, but I imagine they can't be worse than this DOS version of the original game. :P
