Space Fortress Weaponry Guide


      There are 24 different weapons in Space Fortress, 22 of which can be used by the player. Here is a list of them and their pros and cons.

Weapons Available to Player and Enemies:

Cons
Laser
Doesn't consume much energy, Always stocked, Does good damage for its energy usage. Hard to aim with.
Phaser
Does better damage than the Laser for very little energy. Hard to aim with, Low Rapidity.
Disruptor
Good damage ratio, high rapidity. High energy usage for its damage ratio.
Ion Gun
Can easily hit multiple targets, One salvo can do lots of damage. Hard to do maximum potential damage to targets, Slow.
Triaser
Very effective at defeating targets, Does lots of damage for the energy used, Easy to aim with. None.
Vulcan
Very rapid, Good for scoring extra points. Damage is done slowly, Aim must be good to do potential damage.
Blasters
High rapidity, Best weapon to score extra points with. Low damage ratio.
Particle Beam
Very powerful, Can destroy most ships in a single shot, Fast moving. High energy usage, Low Rapidity.
Chaos Gun
Scatters shots everywhere, Easy to use, Good against multiple targets. High energy usage, Doesn't work as well against single targets.
Plasma
Powerful, Will do a great deal of damage to most ships. Hard to hit with, Only really effective against slow ships.
Neutron
Does lots of damage. Very slow shots, Extremely hard to hit things with. High energy usage.
Fusion
Does comparable damage to the Neutron weapon, Wide shot makes it easy to aim with. Doesn't always hit an enemy entirely, High energy usage.
Spreader
Easy to hit targets with because of its spread. Low rapidity.
Photon
Does good damage for its energy usage, Shot movement can be manipulated. VERY hard to aim with as the shot takes the horizontal momentum of the turret when fired.
Laser Bombs
Does tons of damage. Very hard to hit with.

Omega
Calculates firing trajectory ahead of time, Rapid Fire. Despite tracking aiming is still required. High energy usage.
Beam
Instant point A to B attack, Easy to hit with, High Rapidity Doesn't do much damage for its high energy usage.
Homing Rockets
Useful against close-in targets as the shots lock onto the bracketed enemy. Doesn't work well at long range.
Swarmers
Useful against fast targets, fires five shots in a spread that all track. Doesn't work well at long range, Low damage ratio.
Streamers
Rapid fire shots that track targets. Low damage ratio for its energy usage, Only effective against unarmored targets.
Tri-Focal Laser
Ultra Powerful, Beam fired will slice through almost anything in seconds. Damage is done over time, Target must remain within beam to take damage.
Defensive Gun
Destroys shots coming at you, Always equipped and ready to fire. Doesn't do any damage to enemy ships.

Heater Gun
Builds up heat on impact, Can cripple without damaging the shields. Slow moving, Easy to shoot down with D-Gun.
EMP Gun
Does incredible amounts of damage to systems and shields. Does no hull damage.
