| A grid of squares is as simple as it gets when it comes to Minesweeper gameplay. Each square touches up to eight neighbouring squares, though until you turn the skill level up it's very uncommon to have more than 4 mines touching any one square. |

| In this pattern, the squares are arranged to make a cross-like shape. This pattern is still easy to play but you have to be careful around the inside corners where some of the squares touch 6 or 7 other squares instead of 8! |

| Although intimidating, this pattern is fairly easy to play. Each square is arranged in such a way that they touch up to six other squares instead of eight, making the pattern very much like a Hexagons Grid, only with squares instead! |

| The arrangement of the squares on this board sort of splits everything into four different quadrants that are connected by very small amounts of squares. Because of all the corners you have to be very careful not to assume each square is touching the usual eight others. |
